Fabriano is a folio, not a bag. The MacBook sits in leather corners and stays there while you work — lid back, keyboard clear, the whole machine resting on nubuck instead of on a café table. Close it and the same piece of leather becomes the cover.

The hide is nubuck: full-grain sanded on the outside until it goes soft and matte, so it reads closer to suede than to a polished case. It marks with use and the marks brush out. There is no zip, no buckle and no hardware of any kind — nothing that can meet the aluminium. Named for Fabriano, the Marche town that has been making paper since 1264 and gave the world the watermark. A folio was always the thing you carried the paper in.
