Biella is cut from sheepskin — the softest hide we work with. It is the leather of fine gloves and jacket linings: fine-pored, light, and warm to the touch in a way cowhide never quite manages. Over a rigid shell, with a microfibre lining inside both halves.

The name is not decoration. Biella, in Piedmont, is the wool capital of Italy — the valley the great mills have worked out of for over a century. A town whose whole trade is what comes off a sheep.

About real leather

Sheepskin is thinner and more yielding than cowhide, which is exactly why it feels the way it does — and also why it marks more readily. Small creases where it flexes and a slight sheen where your fingers land are the material behaving as it should. Tone varies from one hide to the next; that is not a printing error, it is an animal.

Care

Wipe with a dry, soft cloth. Sheepskin is more absorbent than cowhide — keep it away from standing water and treat spills straight away. No solvents. If it ever feels dry, the smallest amount of neutral conditioner, worked in and left to settle.
