Livorno is cut thick from full-grain cowhide and finished the old way: a wide band, generous holes, and cream contrast stitching worked along the edge. The shape comes straight from the dive straps the Italian Navy issued out of Livorno — built to be gripped with cold hands and to survive being over-tightened for years.
Two colours, and they are not the same leather twice. The brown is oil-tanned and marbled, so it lightens where it bends. The black is deeper and flatter, the one that disappears under a shirt cuff. Both take a brushed silver or matte black buckle, and both slide straight into the watch case with no tools.
Full-grain hide keeps the surface the animal actually grew, so grain, tone and small healed marks differ from one strap to the next. On the brown especially, pressing or bending the leather lifts the colour and then lets it settle back darker. That movement is the material working — it is not damage, and it is the reason a strap like this looks better in year three than in week one.
Wipe with a dry cloth. Treat once or twice a year with a neutral leather balm, sparingly. Let it dry naturally if it gets wet — never on a radiator — and take it off before swimming.
