Leather cases for iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max: how to choose

A new iPhone is when most people choose their case for the next few years. For the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max, our range covers several leathers, one Alcantara case, two cases that carry cards and a screen protector to go with them.

Below: what each case is, which ones hold a MagSafe charger, how each surface ages and how to choose. Everything comes from the product pages. Where a page does not say something, neither do we.

Short answer

For the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max we make leather shell cases in Italian cowhide with a Crazy Horse finish (Ferrara), full-grain cowhide (Ravenna, Parma), pebble-grain cowhide (Arezzo) and full-grain leather with a crossbody strap (Milano Lanyard). There is also Monaco GT in Alcantara, the Genova flip case and the Treviso card-pocket case. If you use MagSafe every day, choose a case with a magnet ring in the shell: Ferrara, Ravenna, Parma, Arezzo or Monaco GT. Then choose the surface by how you want it to age.

Key takeaways
  • The 18 Pro and the 18 Pro Max are different sizes. Choose your exact model in the selector.
  • Five of our 18 Pro cases have a magnet ring in the shell. Milano Lanyard, Genova and Treviso do not mention one.
  • Crazy Horse and Pull-Up leathers change the most with use. Pebble grain hides marks. Alcantara keeps its texture and colour.
  • To carry cards on the phone, Genova closes over the screen with three slots, and Treviso holds one or two cards in a rear pocket.

Which iPhone 18 Pro cases work with MagSafe?

A case works with MagSafe chargers and accessories when it has a ring of magnets built into its shell. Leather does not block the magnetic field. Our guide to MagSafe and leather cases explains how it works in detail.

  • Ferrara: rigid PC shell with a built-in magnet for MagSafe charging and accessories.
  • Ravenna Executive: PC back with an integrated MagSafe magnetic ring, for chargers, stands and accessories.
  • Monaco GT: polycarbonate core with a built-in magnet for MagSafe alignment.
  • Parma: magnets in the rigid core for MagSafe chargers and stands. Its page adds an honest warning: frequent MagSafe charging may leave a visible circular mark, because the finish is rich in oil.
  • Arezzo: a built-in magnetic ring for wireless charging alignment and magnetic accessories.

Milano Lanyard has no built-in magnet. It charges on a standard wireless pad with the strap removed and the phone lying flat. The Genova and Treviso pages do not mention a magnet, so we do not list them as MagSafe cases.

Which leather should you choose, and how will it age?

First decide: a case that changes, or one that stays as it arrived.

Crazy Horse cowhide: the one that changes most

Ferrara is full-grain cowhide tanned by Mastrotto in Vicenza, Italy, then finished with a heavy wax pull-up. Crazy Horse is that finish, not the animal: the hide is cow. The wax makes the leather lighten where it bends and darken where your hand rests. Light scratches blend in with warmth and use. After months of use, the corners you hold lighten and the back darkens.

Giulio M., from Italy, wrote about his Ferrara: "La pelle Mastrotto è davvero premium. Il crazy horse cambia tono dopo pochi giorni e diventa ancora più bello." In English: the Mastrotto leather is truly premium; the Crazy Horse changes tone after a few days and becomes even more beautiful.

Pull-Up and full-grain cowhide: steady change

Parma is full-grain cowhide with an oiled Pull-Up finish. It shows colour shifts and marks where you touch it, and small scratches can often be softened with the warmth of your hands. Ravenna Executive is full-grain cowhide with a matte, non-slip finish. It softens and develops a gentle patina where you hold it most. Our guide to Crazy Horse, Oil-Wax, Pull-Up and Nappa compares these finishes side by side.

Pebble grain: the one that hides marks

Arezzo is genuine cowhide with a pebble-grain texture. The raised grain helps mask fingerprints and small marks, so it keeps a tidy look. What "genuine" and "full-grain" mean on a label is explained in full-grain vs top-grain vs genuine leather.

Alcantara: the one that stays the same

Monaco GT is not leather. Alcantara is an Italian microfibre material with a soft, suede-like feel and a strong grip. Its page describes it as stain-, sweat- and fingerprint-resistant, keeping its texture and colour over time. There are eight colours.

Do you need an iPhone 18 Pro case that carries cards?

  • Genova is a flip case in genuine cowhide. The front cover closes over the screen and holds shut with a magnet. Inside it are three card slots and a slim pocket. Folded back, it becomes a stand. It comes in Mocha Brown, Black and Burgundy for the 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max.
  • Treviso is a shell case in waxed cowhide with a stitched pocket on the back. The pocket holds one or two cards, and the screen stays open. It comes in Cognac, Chestnut, Tan, Black and Navy.

If you charge on a MagSafe puck every night, choose a magnetic shell and keep your cards elsewhere. Never leave a card between the phone and a wireless charger. Our MagSafe guide explains why.

How do you make sure the case fits your model?

A case is cut for one model. A case for the 18 Pro will not fit the 18 Pro Max, and you should not assume a case cut for an earlier Pro fits either.

  1. Check your model. On the iPhone, open Settings, then General, then About, and read Model Name.
  2. Choose it in the selector: iPhone 18 Pro or 18 Pro Max, not just "18".
  3. Check the fit when it arrives. The buttons should press cleanly, the camera should sit inside its cutout and the edges should rise slightly above the screen.

How much protection does a leather case give?

The leather is the part you hold. The protection comes from what sits under it: the shell, the edges and the corners. The shell cases here use a rigid polycarbonate (PC) core with raised edges around the screen and camera, which help guard against scratches on flat surfaces.

  • Full-cover shells (Ferrara, Ravenna, Parma, Monaco GT) wrap the back and the sides.
  • Arezzo adds a shock-absorbing frame. Parma's page describes a four-corner shockproof design.
  • Genova covers front and back, so the screen is covered in a pocket.

No case makes a phone safe from every fall, and none of these pages claims a drop height. For the screen itself, the ULTRASHIELD Duo is a ceramic protector with a privacy filter that darkens the screen at side angles, two to a pack. Choose your exact model in our screen protectors.

How to choose your iPhone 18 Pro case

  • You charge on MagSafe and use a stand or car mount: Ferrara, Ravenna, Arezzo or Monaco GT. Parma too, if a faint charger ring does not bother you. See our MagSafe stands.
  • You want leather with the most character: Ferrara in Crazy Horse, or Parma in Pull-Up.
  • You want leather that changes little: Arezzo, whose pebble grain hides marks, or Ravenna.
  • You want something that is not leather: Monaco GT in Alcantara.
  • You want the phone hands-free: Milano Lanyard, with its detachable crossbody strap.
  • You want to leave the wallet at home: Genova for three cards, Treviso for one or two.

Frequently asked questions

Will an iPhone 18 Pro case fit the iPhone 18 Pro Max?

No. They are different sizes, and each case comes in a version for each. Choose the exact model in the selector.

Which iPhone 18 Pro leather cases are MagSafe compatible?

Ferrara, Ravenna Executive, Parma and Arezzo in leather, and Monaco GT in Alcantara. Milano Lanyard has no magnet, and the Genova and Treviso pages do not mention one.

Will MagSafe leave a mark on a leather case?

It can on oil-rich leathers. The Parma page warns that frequent MagSafe charging may leave a visible circular mark: a mark in the finish, not damage.

Is Monaco GT leather?

No. It is Alcantara, an Italian microfibre material. It feels like suede, grips well and keeps its colour, but it does not develop a patina the way leather does.

Can I charge wirelessly with the case on?

Yes with the magnetic cases. Milano Lanyard charges on a standard pad with the strap removed. Take any card out from behind the phone first.
